MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES

MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES (MAT)

Are you dealing with chronic tightness, muscle weakness, limited mobility, or recurring aches and pains?

Do you feel like certain areas of your body are constantly getting tight or overworked, despite stretching, massage, or other forms of treatment?

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a specialized neuromuscular therapy designed to identify and address muscular imbalances, weakness, and joint instability that can contribute to pain, dysfunction, and limited mobility.

When the body experiences stress, injury, trauma, or repetitive training, certain muscles may become inhibited or less efficient. This can cause other muscles to compensate and become overworked, tight, or fatigued.

MAT uses precise range of motion testing to identify muscles that may not be functioning efficiently. Specific manual techniques are then applied to help restore muscle activation and improve the communication between the nervous system and the muscles.

WHO IS MAT FOR?

MAT can benefit a wide range of individuals, including...

  • Athletes and active individuals looking to improve performance and prevent injuries

  • Individuals dealing with recurring muscle tightness, weakness, or discomfort

  • Those recovering from minor injuries or returning to activity following surgery

  • Individuals experiencing limited range of motion or joint instability

  • Anyone looking to improve muscular function, mobility, and overall physical efficiency

Whether you are training at a high level or simply want to move and feel better in your day-to-day life, MAT can be used to help improve the way your body functions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

MAT sessions are performed on a therapy table and are focused on assessment, muscle activation, and restoring proper muscular function.

Your session will begin with range of motion testing to identify areas of weakness or decreased muscular contractibility. Once these areas are identified, precise manual forces are applied to the targeted muscles to help restore their efficiency.

The goal is not simply to treat the area that feels tight or uncomfortable, but to identify the underlying muscular imbalances that may be contributing to the problem.

MAT can be incorporated into your overall training and recovery routine or used as a stand-alone therapy session.
